10 web related podcasts for designers

Podcasts are an excellent place to keep up to date with current news and events. I listen to a range of them, which helps me keep an eye on where things are going in the web. It also helps me better communicate with those working in the different segments of our industry. So today, I want to share a few of the podcast I listen to every month.

  • Boagworld – One of the longest running web design podcasts around. It’s an excellent place for new web enthusiasts to start. Boagworld covers the latest in web design news, includes interviews with some of the webs best, and keeps you entertained all the while. (Get it online)
  • The Big Web Show – This podcast is coming soon… It will features web topics like HTML5, CSS3, web fonts and much more. The podcast will be put on by your internet pal Dan Benjamin and standards guru Jeffrey Zeldman. (Get it online)
  • Sitepoint – Sitepoint always has something going on. It has been an excellent place to find answers and advice. Their podcast completes the array of services and products. It covers many aspects of the web including the lasts news, applications and sites, social media and more. (Get it on iTunes)
  • CreativeXpert – This rock star style podcast will keep you awake. It’s an awesome place to find interviews with creative experts from the web industry: content strategists, standards activists, programmers and the rest. (Get it on iTunes)
  • StackOverflow – Join Jeff and Joel in their random conversations about StackOverflow and entrepreneurs. This is a really great podcast from anyone looking to build a community around their product. (Get it online)
  • net@night – part of the TWiT network, net@night is the web extension of Leo’s magical lineup. Hosted by Leo himself and Amber MacArthur the show tackles what’s hip in the web community each week. (Get it on iTunes)
  • The Dev Show – While a lot of the previous podcasts focus on the aspects of design The Dev Show keeps its eye on development. Keep track of software development, programming languages and frameworks like Ruby and PHP here. (Get it on iTunes)
  • Six Pixels of Separation – Mitch Joel’s podcast is your hub for everything in the digital marketing landscape. Find out why there is more to digital marketing than Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and Foursquare. (Get it on iTunes)
  • Herding Code – This is the podcast for those into .NET, MVC, or C anything. This is probably the techiest podcast I have listened to; really great for seasoned programmers or those who want to feel smart. (Get it online)
  • Think Vitamin Radio – A new face in the podcast arena but experienced in the web industry. This is the extension to the Think Vitamin blog that has helped thousands stay current and even more inspired. (Get it on iTunes)

I believe it’s really important to get at least a little involved in each aspect of the web. These podcasts have helped me do just that.
